PUSHING 70 and KEEPING THAT GLOW!

PUSHING 70 and KEEPING THAT GLOW!

Robin McDonald

Let’s get one thing straight: aging is a privilege. I'm pushing 70 and consider it  a badge of honor.  I’m not here to fight age. I’m here to make it look damn good, glow naturally, and remind all of us that Botox is optional but self-respect is mandatory.

I’ve spent decades in this industry, and if there’s one truth I’ll shout from the rooftops: you don’t need to freeze your face to stay radiant. I’m living proof — a few laugh lines, sure, but also skin that tells a story of kindness, good habits, maybe a little stubbornness, definitely some hurdles.

So, from me — to you, here are my honest and heart-fueled tips for aging gracefully and holistically:

1. Moisturize like you mean it. Skin loses moisture as we age faster than a Hollywood marriage. Layer up those hydrating serums (hello, KINDri’s prickly pear magic), facial oils, and creams. And drink water! No, coffee and rosé don’t count... damn!

2. Embrace facial massage. It’s not just fluff. Get those fingers moving! It boosts circulation, reduces puffiness, and makes you look like you slept — even if you were up binge-watching Scandanavian crime dramas. (We’ve all been there for a minute.)

3. Ditch the junk — in skincare and life. If you can’t pronounce the ingredients, your skin probably doesn’t want them. Stick to clean, cruelty-free formulas. Your skin will thank you, and so will your conscience.

4. Eat the rainbow. I’m talking about colorful fruits and veggies. Your skin reflects what you put into your body. Every berry, avocado, and leafy green is a little gift to your future self.

5. Move your body. Not because you hate it, but because you love it. Stretch, dance, walk, yoga — keep that blood flowing. Stagnation is the enemy. Besides, dancing around your kitchen to Sly and The Family Stone is basically a spiritual practice for me.

6. Laugh lines are proof you’ve lived. Don’t fear them. Fear being so obsessed with perfection that you miss the fun. Smile. A lot. It lifts more than just your mood.

7. Protect your peace — and your skin barrier. Stress ages faster than the sun. Meditate, breathe, and know when to say no. Your skin barrier and your sanity will both stay intact.

8. Sleep is skincare. There’s no serum on Earth that can replace a good night’s sleep. Put down the phone, spritz some lavender, and drift off like the queen you are.

9. Be kind. It radiates. Compassion shows up on your face. Resentment does too — and not in a good way.

10. Don’t take any of this too seriously. It’s just skin. It’s just life. We’re lucky to be here. Wear your years with pride, your SPF with diligence, and maybe a little tinted lip balm.

Aging isn’t the end of beauty. It’s the evolution of it. And if you’re doing it with grace, good skincare, and a sense of humor, well — that’s the secret sauce.

Stay glowing, stay kind, my friends. We’ve got a lot of living left to do.
